AI stands for Artificial Intelligence. It is a branch of computer science that focuses on creating intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and language translation.

AI involves the development of algorithms and computer programs that can learn from and make predictions or decisions based on data. Some examples of AI applications include virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, image and speech recognition software, and self-driving cars.

AI has the potential to revolutionise many industries and improve our daily lives in numerous ways.

AI can be classified into two main types:

Narrow or Weak AI:

Narrow AI refers to AI systems designed to perform specific tasks or functions within a limited domain. These systems excel at a particular task, such as image recognition, natural language processing, or playing chess. However, they lack general intelligence and cannot perform tasks outside their specialised area.

General or Strong AI:

General AI refers to AI systems that possess the ability to understand, learn, and apply knowledge across a wide range of tasks and domains, similar to human intelligence. General AI is hypothetical and remains a subject of ongoing research and exploration.

AI technology finds applications in various fields, including healthcare, finance, transportation, manufacturing, customer service, and more. It has the potential to automate mundane or repetitive tasks, augment human capabilities, enhance decision-making processes, and revolutionise industries.
