Part of the 25 in 25 Acts of Kindness initiative by Clickingmad Ltd

At Clickingmad, we believe that kindness isn’t just about what you give, it’s about how you understand and support the people around you. As we mark our 25th year in business, we’ve launched 25 in 25 Acts of Kindness, a year-long initiative to give back to our community through meaningful, lasting actions. From donating £75000 worth of digital services to volunteering and fundraising, we’re committed to doing good in a way that truly matters.

One of the most impactful things we’ve done so far may not seem obvious at first glance: we took part in menopause awareness training. But after completing the session, delivered by the excellent Angels Loughlin from mbrace Menopause Support, we’re convinced of one thing:

Every business should be doing this.

Why Menopause Awareness Matters in the Workplace

Menopause affects around 50% of the population, and yet in many workplaces, it remains a silent subject. Many people going through menopause struggle in silence, feeling isolated, misunderstood, or unsupported, not because their colleagues don’t care, but because they simply don’t know what to say or do.

That’s where menopause awareness training comes in.

Our team learned how menopause can impact concentration, energy levels, emotional wellbeing, and confidence. We heard real-life examples of how these challenges can influence not just personal lives, but professional relationships and performance. The training gave us the tools to recognise symptoms, understand triggers, and most importantly, respond with empathy.

In short, it opened our eyes.

Training That Transforms

The session with Angela wasn’t a tick-box exercise. It was engaging, interactive, and thought-provoking. It created a safe space for honest questions and meaningful discussion — something that’s not always easy in a busy workplace. She left us with a deeper understanding of how menopause can affect people differently, and how we, as employers and colleagues, can make simple changes that have a profound impact.

Some of the topics covered included:

  • The stages of menopause and their symptoms
  • How menopause can affect workplace dynamics
  • Inclusive language and communication
  • Small adjustments that make a big difference (e.g. flexible working, better ventilation, open-door policies)
  • The importance of building a culture where people feel safe to speak up

And while the subject is serious, the training was delivered with warmth, clarity, and empathy, making it accessible and engaging for everyone in the room — regardless of age, gender, or experience.

The Impact on Our Team

We’ve always believed that people do their best work when they feel supported. But this session took that belief a step further. It reminded us that real inclusivity means understanding the realities of the people we work with — not just accommodating them, but proactively supporting them.

For some team members, the training was a chance to learn about something they’d never really considered before. For others, it opened the door to personal stories and experiences that had never been shared. That’s the real power of awareness — it starts conversations that matter.

Why Every Business Should Do This

If you're a business leader or manager reading this, here’s our message: don’t wait.

Menopause isn’t just a “women’s issue”. It’s a workplace issue, a wellbeing issue, and a cultural issue. It affects your people, your productivity, and your retention. But more than that, it affects the human experience of being seen, heard, and understood at work and of course - at home.

Here’s what we gained from just one session:

  • A more compassionate and informed team
  • A stronger sense of connection and trust
  • A workplace culture that values openness
  • Practical steps we can take to be more inclusive
  • A shared commitment to ongoing learning

And it’s worth saying - the investment of time and cost is minimal compared to the positive ripple effect it creates across your team and organisation.

A Call to Action

We urge businesses of all sizes, across all sectors, to make menopause awareness part of their learning and development efforts. Whether you’re an SME or a large corporation, there is value in this - not just for those going through menopause, but for everyone they work with.

Book the training. Open the conversation. Make it normal. It’s one of the most impactful things you can do to show that your business truly values and respects its people.

We also want to say thank you to Angels Loughlin and the team at mbrace Menopause Support for delivering the session with such care and expertise. If you're looking for someone to guide your business through this training, we can’t recommend them highly enough. You can find more about their work here: mbrace on LinkedIn.

What’s Next for 25 in 25?

This training was one of our 25 acts — but there’s much more to come. Over the year, we’ll be:

  • Donating £75,000 worth of digital services to charities
  • Volunteering with community organisations
  • Fundraising for causes across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin
  • Continuing to learn and grow as a team — through experiences like this one

We believe that businesses can and should be a force for good.

And if that starts with talking about the menopause in the open, then that’s exactly what we’ll do.
